If you enjoy working outdoors but struggle to find a place to charge your laptop, you’ll be excited to discover this concept from Lenovo.
During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, the company took the opportunity to announce its new concept. It’s a laptop equipped with a solar panel, which can be used to charge the device through any light source.
Named Yoga Solar PC, the concept features a light-absorbing panel made up of 84 solar cells, capable of capturing light with a conversion efficiency rate of over 24%.
According to the website The Verge, this is more than other silicon-based solar panels currently used in electronic devices.
The Yoga Solar PC “can absorb and convert enough solar energy from direct sunlight in 20 minutes to power up to one hour of video playback,” Lenovo states.
The device is also equipped with Dynamic Solar Tracking software, which shows how much current and voltage the solar panel is producing.
However, the company has not disclosed any other specifications for the laptop and has not mentioned when (or if) it plans to launch the device officially.
